2019 Arista, UV Lucky Well Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 1x75cl

RP97
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir Vintage production: 657 cases The Lucky Well vineyard sits atop a knoll on the western edge of the Sebastopol hills outside of the towns of Graton and Sebastopol. The area is... home to some of the most highly acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards in the Russian River Valley due in large part to the perfect confluence of soil, climate, and elevation. The vineyard is in an area often referred to as the “banana belt” of the Russian River Valley because, though on the very coolest, foggiest, and western edge of the appellation, it sits on a knoll that rises above the fog line. This feature exposes the fruit to more gentle sunlight, which allows very slow and even ripening across the entire growing season. Arista's 4-acre section was planted in 2008 to Pommard, Swan, and Calera clones of Pinot Noir.

2019 Bevan Cellars, Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay, Russian River Valley 1x75cl

Blend: 100% Chardonnay Vintage production: 320 cases Russell Bevan is a Titan among Napa winemakers, and his incredible single vineyard reds from 'Grand Cru' sites including the Tench, Beckstoffer... Dr. Crane and Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyards are among the Valley's greatest. For those in the know it gets even more exciting with his ultra-rare Sonoma bottlings. These wines show the remarkable breadth of Russell's talent, and why the far western reaches of Sonoma are home to some of the most exciting Chardonnays in the World. The Ritchie Vineyard is one of the ‘Grand Crus’ of the Russian River Valley and is the source for some of THE best Chardonnays in California. The fruit is highly coveted by winemaking legends Mark Aubert and David Ramey, and Russell’s Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay is the most intense of them all. It’s a wine with bags of cellaring potential, yet its opulence is going to make it hard to resist opening early on. Russell Bevan: "Our 2019 Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay is a powerhouse. while we love to drink our Cabernets Sauvignons and red wine blends young, we have always enjoyed our chardonnays with some maturity. Of course, they are yummy when they are young, but they just have so much intensity that they shine even brighter with a little age. With this vintage we have crafted a wine that will draw a crowd, tomorrow and for years to come. Opulent, dynamic, it pulses key lime, pineapple and a kiss of stone fruit. This wine pulls no punches."

2019 Arista, Ritchie Chardonnay, Russian River Valley 1x75cl

Blend: 100% Chardonnay Vintage production: 213 cases Arista's expression of the Ritchie Vineyard is made all the more exciting as Matt Courtney is renowned for his 10 year tenure at Marcassin -... arguably California's most illustrious Chardonnay producer - where he had a hand in multiple 100 point scoring wines. First planted in 1972 on the sandy Goldridge soils of the Russian River Valley, the Ritchie Vineyard is regarded as one of Sonoma's 'Grand Cru' sites. The complex terroir of ancient seabed, volcanic ash deposits and pockets of tufa rocks combine to create a unique vineyard that produces wines of intensity and great natural acidity.

2015 Soliste, L’Age D’Or Chardonnay, Russian River Valley 1x75cl

Blend: 100% Chardonnay Vintage production: 417 cases L’Age D’Or comes from a vineyard just north of Sebastopol adjacent to the Laguna de Santa Rosa, the largest tributary of the Russian River.... Originally planted in 1971, these are among the oldest Chardonnay vines in the Russian River Valley. The vineyard is immaculately and sustainably managed. Having white Burgundies as benchmarks, especially the wines of Raveneau, Jobard and Coche-Dury, Don and Claude were never to anxious to even attempt to craft Chardonnay in the new world as they had always felt that the wines were sometimes over the top with buttery pop corn mouth feel, way too much oak, high alcohol and clunky. Their success with Sauvignon Blanc, and especially with St. Andelain, convinced them to begin a three year commitment with a fabulous, well-established vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Their willingness to experiment with different vinification as well as aging for 16 months in 600L thick stave barrels (44% new) results in a Chardonnay of great elegance, length and verve; very Meursault-like.

2015 Scherrer, Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 1x75cl

Blend: 100% Chardonnay Production: 796 cases While grown primarily in the sandy Goldridge soil, which tends to produce Pinot Noir with flavours of red fruits and orange peel, this wine also... illustrates some of the deep, brooding black cherry character generally found in the region’s clay soils. It was bottled without fining or filtration, and will age gracefully for many years. Four Corners Wine: "Pure Russian River Valley - lovely dark, earthy, black-fruit aromatics, with a touch of scorched earth, bags of depth, framed by a touch of white pepper and anise. The palate has a great intensity, so juicy and crisp, very classic RRV-style, lots of crisp red berries - especially wild strawberry. Simply delicious, and plenty to come."

2020 Argot, Indigo Syrah, Sonoma Mountain 12x75cl

WI96
Blend: 100% Syrah Vintage production: 75 Indigo is a selection from Justin's favourite Syrah terroir, with an emphasis on the Alban 1 clone, given an extended elevage in new, French oak barriques... for maximum impact and richness. The 2020 spent 31 months in French Oak, 25% new. The vineyard is situated at 335m of elevation on a north-facing, gently-rolling hillside on the foothills of Sonoma Mountain. It is composed of a geological upheaval of ashy, moondust-like soils, littered with ancient seabed. Sonoma Mountain’s ridgetops — demarcating the cool Sonoma Coast AVA, from the more moderate Sonoma Valley AVA — delivers an utterly unique expression of Syrah, distinct from that grown elsewhere in Sonoma County.
