*The 2023 vintage was pure gold dust in Sonoma County. This means just heavenly Pinot Noirs.

Look no further than ex-pat Scotsman Andy Smith’s DuMOL Estate and his epic Finn Pinot Noir 2023 from the famed Russian River Valley. It’s the 24th vintage for this iconic Pinot, and surely one of the all-time greats with a fabulous 99-points from Jeb Dunnuck.

Andy selects his favourite parcels of fruit from his Bressay Estate Vineyard, and Occidental Road Vineyard. Bressay brings intensity, concentration, and oodles of freshness, while the clay soils at Occidental deliver depth and structure: the recipe for a sublime Pinot Noir.

The 2023 was lovingly aged for 15 months in the finest French oak barrels (40% new), giving this Pinot its incredible balance and serious ageing potential.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

Jeb Dunnuck 99

The ruby-hued 2023 Pinot Noir Finn comes two-thirds from sandy soils and one-third from clay soils. It has fantastic balance, with pristine notes of preserved cranberries, raspberries, fresh flowers, and wet stones. Medium-bodied, it floats on the palate with fine tannins that are well-defined, refreshing acidity, and a seamless feel all around. A beautiful wine with a chalky mineral texture and a long, floating finish, it s always a pleasure to taste this cuvee, and this vintage is no exception. [Jeb Dunnuck, 02/07/2025]

Anticipated maturity: 2026-2046

The Wine Palate 97

Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2023 Pinot Noir Finn prances out with flamboyant notes of juicy cherries, black raspberries, and pomegranate, giving way to hints of red roses, tar, lavender oil, and fallen leaves. The medium-bodied palate delivers a firm, grainy texture with just enough freshness to match the blackberry and savory layers, finishing long and fragrant. [Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 01/06/2025]

Anticipated maturity: 2026-2042

2023 Dragonette, Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills 1x75cl

JD96JS96TWP95VM93
*Blend: 100% Pinot Noir *Vintage production: 300 cases *Historic Sanford & Benedict is the original Pinot Noir vineyard (est. 1971) in the Santa Ynez Valley (Sta. Rita Hills was not established... until 2001), and it has been the inspiration for winemakers for ever since. Originally planted to a selection of apparently secret “heritage” clones (subsequently expanded and replanted over the years), this magical site simply buzzes with cosmic energy. Dragonette purchases fruit here from two distinct blocks of older vines (1999) and oldest vines (1972), buying by the acre so they may employ specialized organic farming practices. These stately vines stand tall on their enormous trunks, while still producing a solid crop of beautifully concentrated grapes. The resulting wines display sappy red and black cherry fruits with old-vine style and grace.

*Blend: 100% Pinot Noir *Vintage production: 500 cases *Radian vineyard is located at the far western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills on dramatically steep slopes with large amounts of diatomaceous... earth. Radian is extreme, regularly blanketed by fog and buffeted by high winds. The vines here struggle to set fruit, and the resulting yields are extremely low, but the grapes highly concentrated. The resulting wines are energetic and intense, with a fascinating mineral streak and a remarkable depth of flavour.

2022 MAXEM, Silver Eagle Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast 12x75cl

RP95TWP96
*Blend: 100% Pinot Noir *Vintage production: 300 cases *MAXEM is all about precision, ultra-focused winemaking, and celebrating the finest terroir of the Sonoma Coast at the hands of winemaker Sam... Kaplan. The wines are elegant, pure, remarkably balanced wines loaded with tension and energy, that have knocked us off our seats every time we've tasted them. They're as close in class to the Grand Crus of Burgundy we've ever experienced in California, while maintaining their unmistakable Sonoma DNA. Silver Eagle Vineyard rests atop Stoetz Ridge, the land mass that divides the remote Sonoma Coast from the Russian River Valley. This vineyard experiences both the cooling ocean breezes of the nearby Pacific, as well as the warmth of the interior valley. The Pinot Noir made from this unique confluence of climates is extraordinary: a rare balance of explosive wild berry, mouth-watering acidity, and rich, polished tannins.
