Blend: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc
Vintage production: 600 cases
the prospect of combining the best aspects of the Sugarloaf Mountain and Tench Vineyards is truly mouth-watering, and Russell couldn’t resist blending Cabernet Sauvignon from Tench with Cabernet Franc from Sugarloaf in the ‘new’ EE Red Wine 2021.
EE had long been a Tench-designate, but the stunning quality of fruit in the 2021 vintage demanded these two sites finally came together – and what a wine it is!
Refined and complex on the nose, there layers of dark fruit, sweet paprika, graphite and bags of minerality. The palate is rich and plush with velvety tannins, an delicious ferrous note, loads of depth, and carried brilliantly by an overall sense of purity and energy. 99pts from Jeb Dunnuck, it’s “A gorgeous wine.”
