Tasting Notes

The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Vogelzang Vineyard comes from more gravelly loam soils and was brought up in French oak barrels (22% new). It’s another beautiful, exotic expression of the variety, with notes of orange blossom, honeyed minerality, acacia flowers, baking spices, and hints of brioche. It too is rich, textured, and wonderfully balanced, with bright acidity and outstanding length. Both single vineyard releases are some of finest expressions of Sauvignon coming out of the Central Coast today.

The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Vogelzang Vineyard takes some coaxing to reveal aromas of lemongrass, lemon-lime candy, sage and tarragon, offering deeper peachy and flinty tones with time in the glass. The medium-bodied palate feels youthfully coiled, focused on flinty citrus at this stage. It has focused acidity and a pleasing textural grip but needs a year or two in bottle to fully unwind.
