Description

Blend: 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Malbec, 28% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc
Cases: 2,189

Few wines can boast such a balance of complexity and depth with a style that is guaranteed to put a huge smile on the faces of everyone who drinks them. You can lay back and enjoy the experience just as much as you can admire the craftsmanship that went into making them.

The Red Blend is remarkable wine featuring the classic Bordeaux varietals – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot – yet it stands apart for the 40% of Malbec in the blend. This fruit is truly special, coming from the Farrow Ranch and Rockpile Ridge Vineyards that Jesse champions with his multiple 100-point Devil Proof Malbecs.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

Jeb Dunnuck 96

The 2020 Bordeaux Red Blend is composed of 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Malbec, 28% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and spent 18 months in 45% new French oak. Pouring an opaque red, it reveals expressive aromas of menthol, gravelly earth, cedar, and kirsch that evolve in the glass. Full-bodied and fleshy, it has ripe tannins and notes of dusty earth, cassis, violets, and fresh herbs. One of the more successful Cabs from this vintage, it should be cellared for a few years and enjoyed 2025-2040. [21/07/2023]

Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040

Robert Parker 97

The 2020 Bordeaux Red Blend is composed of 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Malbec, 28% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc, matured in 45% new French oak for 18 months. Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, it is scented of blueberries and red and black cherries with nuances of graphite, spice and tea leaves, continuing to blossom aromatically as it spends time in the glass. The medium-bodied palate is velvety and refreshing with alluringly floral fruit and a long, layered finish. Restrained and easy to drink, it’s a great success in a challenging vintage. 2,189 cases were made. [23/03/2023]

Anticipated maturity: 2024-2034

2019 Teeter-Totter, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 1x75cl

JD94
Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petite Sirah, 5% Charbano, 5% Zinfandel Vintage production: n/a Anyone who's drunk a Cabernet Sauvignon made by Benoit Touqette will know why he's regarded as one... of the greatest winemakers of his generation. With countless 100 point scores at Realm Cellars for The Bard, The Absurd, Moonracer Estate, Beckstoffer Dr. Crane and Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernets, he's at the top of his game. So when he releases a Cab under his own label, it's a complete no-brainer! That makes his Teeter-Totter Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 one of the shrewdest buys from Napa, especially with Jeb Dunnuck saying "It tastes as if it costs two to three times the price." With Teeter-Totter, Benoit gets to cherry pick fruit from his favourite vineyards throughout Napa. The result is a red that's both serious and complex, as well as delicious and moreish from the word go. Benoit described 2019 as a "100% drool-worthy vintage", and his final blend was 85% Cabernet Sauvignon from St Helena, Yountville and Rutherford; 5% each of Petite Sirah, Charbono and Zinfandel from Calistoga. It's in the classic Benoit-style with plenty of richness and opulence, with a great structure to carry it along.

Blend: 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 1% Malbec Vintage production: c.2,800 cases Few wines can boast such a balance of complexity and depth with a style that is guaranteed to put a huge smile... on the faces of everyone who drinks them. You can lay back and enjoy the experience just as much as you can admire the craftsmanship that went into making them. Fruit for the Cabernet comes from the Del Rio, Oliver Ranch, SJ Ranch, and 1912 Estate Vineyards. They are celebrated in their own rights with Aperture's single-vineyard programme, but come together irresistibly in the Cabernet Sauvignon 2019.
