O’Shaughnessy’s Mt. Veeder Cabernet is truly emotive of its surroundings. The Mount Veeder AVA is an island of ancient seabed, pushed up in the formation of the Mayacamas Mountains five million years ago, that is unique to Napa.
Acquired in 2000 and know as ‘Betty’s Vineyard’, the vines on this steeply terraced site struggle for nourishment and moisture, consistently producing clusters with small berries and intense flavours. 7 of the 22 hectares are under vine, and it’s one of the most remote and breathtaking vineyards in Napa.
It’s a stunning yet wild terrain covered with forests of redwood, oak, bay and maple, and incredibly steep slopes making the use of machinery all but impossible. This complex, demanding terroir and cool climate is reflected in the wines, as you can see in all of the reviews.
