Tasting Notes

The 2018 Downstream is a more Grenache-dominated blend, and this beauty flirts with perfection. Showing consistently just about every time I ve been lucky enough to try a bottle, it has almost overflowing notes of darker berries, ground pepper, smoked game, and spice as well as a powerful yet ethereal style on the palate that’s hard to describe. Offering a terrific sense of freshness, some obvious salty minerality on the palate, no hard edges, and a great, great finish, count yourself lucky if you have any bottles. As I wrote in 2020, it will stand toe to toe with any top Chateauneuf du Pape out there.
