The Sugarloaf Vineyard (aka Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard) is located in the far southeast of Napa Valley, which is a much cooler part of the region due to the influence of the marine breezes from the nearby San Pablo Bay.
It sits on of two distinct soil types: black rock and red volcanic rock, large ‘galets’ of which radiate heat in the evening to protect the vines. The wines here are classically dark and intense, with the longer growing season giving them an age-worthy style.
The 2018 spent 20 months in 100% new French oak.
