The story behind Terre Promise is a fascinating one. Don and Claude produced their first MonoClone® Pinot Noir in 2006, crafted from the Dijon 115 clone in the family’s Sonatera Vineyard. The 115 clone originated in Burgundy where is was saved in early 1950s by Raymond Bernard, who was allowed to graft in Domaine Ponsot’s vineyard in the Grand Cru of Clos de la Roche. It was then sent first to David Lett in Oregon and made its way down to Sonoma. Of the many clones Soliste have worked with, their favourite is Dijon 115.
In 2015, Don and Claude were introduced to Terra de Promissio Vineyard, just south of Petaluma, and fell in love with it straight away. They noted a parcel of Dijon 115 vines, and with their relentless dedication to produce the very best Pinot Noir, they applied their knowledge to create a Pinot worthy of their MonoClone® programme.
