Since our first taste of the latest Vice Versa releases with Proprietors Patrice and Samantha Breton last December, we've barely been able to contain our excitement as the first cases made their journey to the UK. The wait is now over, and the first cork we'll be pulling is from the stunning Spinning Plates Cabernet Sauvignon 2021.

Patrice has worked tirelessly to select the perfect vineyards for Spinning Plates, settling on a exciting mix of mountain fruit from the Ecotone Vineyard (formerly David Abreu's 'Thorevilos') above eastern St. Helena, the Vice Versa Estate Vineyard adjacent to Amoenus Vineyard in the far north of Calistoga, with Cabernet Franc coming from the prized vines of Beckstoffer To Kalon. They are combined with small parcels from a handful of 'top-secret' sites that remain a closely guarded secret, although Patrice suggested they may well join his prestigious Single-Vineyard Cabernet program in the future.

This is quite the palette from which to craft the Spinning Plates, and together with his consultant winemaker Phlippe Melka, and his superstar protégée Maayan Koschitzky, he's honed his practises in the winery to create wines of elegance as well as power - the modern, highly attractive Napa style.

Patrice is also keen to match what's in the bottle with what's on the outside, working with cutting-edge artists to create though provoking, exciting labels for each wine. Commissioned from Montreal Street artist “Tone”, and inspired by Patrice’s passion for music, modern art, culture, and history, the Spinning Plates 2021 label artwork (see above and below) is a retro-modern punk collage poster.

There's so much joy to be had in drinking the 2021 at this early stage, and indeed anytime over the coming 15+ years. And for those who order quickly enough, we have 4 cases remining of the debut 2019 vintage of Spinning Plates, also available for immediate delivery. This must be one of the most delicious vintage comparisons you can make!
