2018 Cliff Lede, High Fidelity, Napa Valley 1x75cl

JD94RP94WE94
Blend: 50% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot Vintage production: 1,142 cases The Cliff Lede High Fidelity is unlike any other wine produced at the Estate as the... focus in on Cabernet Franc. If you ask any of Napa's top winemakers which varietal they are most excited about, this is the one. Only fruit from a truly brilliant vineyard makes the cut, and for the High Fidelity, David Abreu reserved a parcel of Cab Franc from his 'First Growth' Madrona Ranch Vineyard in western St. Helena. When the same fruit goes into his renowned Abreu Vineyards Madrona Ranch Proprietary Red, you know it's of seriously high quality. Winemaker Chris Tynan masterfully blends this Cabernet Franc with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a splash of Petit Verdot from Cliff Lede's Twin Peaks Estate Vineyard in Stags Leap District, and his High Fidelity 2018 is absolutely singing from the word go. As Jeb Dunnuck says, "It's already hard to resist", yet it has everything in place to cellar gracefully for another 10-15 years.

2019 Arista, UV Lucky Well Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 1x75cl

RP97
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir Vintage production: 657 cases The Lucky Well vineyard sits atop a knoll on the western edge of the Sebastopol hills outside of the towns of Graton and Sebastopol. The area is... home to some of the most highly acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards in the Russian River Valley due in large part to the perfect confluence of soil, climate, and elevation. The vineyard is in an area often referred to as the “banana belt” of the Russian River Valley because, though on the very coolest, foggiest, and western edge of the appellation, it sits on a knoll that rises above the fog line. This feature exposes the fruit to more gentle sunlight, which allows very slow and even ripening across the entire growing season. Arista's 4-acre section was planted in 2008 to Pommard, Swan, and Calera clones of Pinot Noir.

2019 Bevan Cellars, Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay, Russian River Valley 1x75cl

Blend: 100% Chardonnay Vintage production: 320 cases Russell Bevan is a Titan among Napa winemakers, and his incredible single vineyard reds from 'Grand Cru' sites including the Tench, Beckstoffer... Dr. Crane and Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyards are among the Valley's greatest. For those in the know it gets even more exciting with his ultra-rare Sonoma bottlings. These wines show the remarkable breadth of Russell's talent, and why the far western reaches of Sonoma are home to some of the most exciting Chardonnays in the World. The Ritchie Vineyard is one of the ‘Grand Crus’ of the Russian River Valley and is the source for some of THE best Chardonnays in California. The fruit is highly coveted by winemaking legends Mark Aubert and David Ramey, and Russell’s Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay is the most intense of them all. It’s a wine with bags of cellaring potential, yet its opulence is going to make it hard to resist opening early on. Russell Bevan: "Our 2019 Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay is a powerhouse. while we love to drink our Cabernets Sauvignons and red wine blends young, we have always enjoyed our chardonnays with some maturity. Of course, they are yummy when they are young, but they just have so much intensity that they shine even brighter with a little age. With this vintage we have crafted a wine that will draw a crowd, tomorrow and for years to come. Opulent, dynamic, it pulses key lime, pineapple and a kiss of stone fruit. This wine pulls no punches."

2012 Scarecrow, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford 1x75cl

RP98
Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage production: 2,000 cases Of Napa's great Estates, Scarecrow has perhaps the most interesting story of all. The vineyard in Rutherford was planted in 1945 by... He quickly rose to become one of Hollywood’s most important figures and became Chief of Production at the illustrious MGM Studios. Cohn's vineyard quickly became a revered source of fruit for some of the most celebrated Napa wines, including Opus One, Phelps Insignia and Inglenook (Niebaum-Coppola). Cohn’s grandson, Brett Lopez, founded his new winery on the property in 2003 and named it Scarecrow in honour of his grandfather. It has since scored a plethora of100 point scores among the major critics, placing forever among Napa’s ‘First Growth’ Estates.

2021 Myriad, Beckstoffer Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford 12x75cl

Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage production: 150 cases 120 spectacular hectares in the middle of the valley floor, the Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard had its first grapes planted by... Elizabeth Rutherford in 1895. Famed history flows through the veins of this historic vineyard from Georges De La Tour to Andre Tchelistcheff. This site was put on the map by Mike's former mentor, Thomas Rivers Brown at Schrader Cellars. Mike has now usurped Thomas as the best exponent of this historic Rutherford vineyard with the highest ever scores for a 'G III' Cabernet Sauvignon: potential perfection with 98-100pt WA. In 1988 the Beckstoffer Georges III was replanted using new Cabernet Sauvignon Clones with tighter spacing and advanced trellising systems enhancing both quality and grape tonnage. The Myriad Beckstoffer Georges III blocks are positioned on slight uplifts and rolling knolls, offering better drainage, early ripening and delicious and integrated natural acidity. Wonderfully, in 2009 – 73ha were placed under a land conservation easement that forever prohibits non-agricultural development.

2021 Lail Vineyards, Georgia Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley 6x75cl

WI97
Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Vintage production: 416 cases Following it's inaugural 2002 vintage release, Robin Lail's Georgia single-handedly revolutionised Sauvignon Blanc in California. Georgia... was inspired by her winemaker Philippe Melka’s time working at Château Haut Brion, where he fell in love with Haut Brion Blanc. They were among the first to use the same winemaking approach in Napa to produce a Sauvignon Blanc of the same exceptional quality and ageworthy style, as good as any other in the world. When Robert Parker famously described the Georgia as "California's most complex and multi-dimensional Sauvignon Blanc" Robin and Philippe's instincts were proved right. This is a wine characterised by energy, richness and remarkable depth, always differentiated by the nuances of each vintage.

2015 Soliste, L’Age D’Or Chardonnay, Russian River Valley 1x75cl

Blend: 100% Chardonnay Vintage production: 417 cases L’Age D’Or comes from a vineyard just north of Sebastopol adjacent to the Laguna de Santa Rosa, the largest tributary of the Russian River.... Originally planted in 1971, these are among the oldest Chardonnay vines in the Russian River Valley. The vineyard is immaculately and sustainably managed. Having white Burgundies as benchmarks, especially the wines of Raveneau, Jobard and Coche-Dury, Don and Claude were never to anxious to even attempt to craft Chardonnay in the new world as they had always felt that the wines were sometimes over the top with buttery pop corn mouth feel, way too much oak, high alcohol and clunky. Their success with Sauvignon Blanc, and especially with St. Andelain, convinced them to begin a three year commitment with a fabulous, well-established vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Their willingness to experiment with different vinification as well as aging for 16 months in 600L thick stave barrels (44% new) results in a Chardonnay of great elegance, length and verve; very Meursault-like.
