2021 Dragonette, Radian Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills 12x75cl

JD97JS96RP95VM95
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir Vintage production: 500 cases Radian vineyard is located at the far western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills on dramatically steep slopes with large amounts of diatomaceous earth.... Radian is extreme, regularly blanketed by fog and buffeted by high winds. The vines here struggle to set fruit, and the resulting yields are extremely low, but the grapes highly concentrated. The resulting wines are energetic and intense, with a fascinating mineral streak and a remarkable depth of flavour.

2020 Argot, Indigo Syrah, Sonoma Mountain 12x75cl

WI96
Blend: 100% Syrah Vintage production: 75 Indigo is a selection from Justin's favourite Syrah terroir, with an emphasis on the Alban 1 clone, given an extended elevage in new, French oak barriques... for maximum impact and richness. The 2020 spent 31 months in French oak, 25% new. The vineyard is situated at 335m of elevation on a north-facing, gently-rolling hillside on the foothills of Sonoma Mountain. It is composed of a geological upheaval of ashy, moondust-like soils, littered with ancient seabed. Sonoma Mountain’s ridgetops — demarcating the cool Sonoma Coast AVA, from the more moderate Sonoma Valley AVA — delivers an utterly unique expression of Syrah, distinct from that grown elsewhere in Sonoma County.

2021 Teeter-Totter, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 12x75cl

JD93
Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petite Sirah, 5% Charbano, 5% Zinfandel Vintage production: 6,000 cases Anyone who's drunk a Cabernet Sauvignon made by Benoit Touquette will know why he's... regarded as one of the greatest winemakers of his generation. With countless 100 point scores to his name, he's at the top of his game. So when he releases a Cab under his own label, it's a complete no-brainer! That makes his Teeter-Totter Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 one of the shrewdest buys from Napa, especially with Jeb Dunnuck saying "California needs more wines like this." With Teeter-Totter, Benoit gets to cherry pick fruit from his favourite vineyards throughout Napa. The result is a red that's both serious and complex, as well as delicious and moreish from the word go. In 2021, the final blend was 85% Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the most famous and prestigious vineyards in Rutherford, with 5% each of Petite Sirah, Charbono and Zinfandel from Calistoga. It's in the classic Benoit-style with plenty of richness and opulence, with a great structure to carry it along.

2019 Peake Ranch, Sierra Madre Vineyard Chardonnay, Santa Maria Valley 12x75cl

JD96RP96+
Blend: 100% Chardonnay Vintage production: 251 cases A single-vineyard Chardonnay from one of the hottest producers on the West Coast... Only 251 cases produced... Scores of 96+ WA and 96 JD...... This already sounds like a serious prospect, and with an incredible price the Peake Ranch Sierra Madre Vineyard Chardonnay 2019 is an unbelievable buy. Winemaker Wynn Solomon has produced a wine that showcases the pedigree of this vineyard in northern Santa Barbara County, and why Peake Ranch is held in the very highest regard. The Wine Advocate's Erin Brooks picked up on the Sierra Madre 2019s "Tangy acidity and shimmery mineral character", which is textbook for the vineyard. The cold Pacific breezes and fog drawn inland from the nearby coast, and terroir dominated by chalky/sandy ancient seabed, come together gloriously. Jeb Dunnuck talked about how it is "Delivering California fruit in a Burgundian style" (i.e. richness and bags of tension), yet a Chardonnay of the same class from the Côte d'Or would be double the price if not more. The Sierra Madre 2019 is a tremendous wine to savour now and anytime over the coming 10 years.

2019 Peake Ranch, Bellis Noir, Sta. Rita Hills 12x75cl

JD96
Blend: 75% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 9% Pinot Noir Vintage Production: 557 cases If there's one wine that sums up why California is such a hotbed of innovation and excitement, it's the Peake Ranch Bellis... Noir 2019. It's a blend like no-other: with a dominance of Syrah and addition of Grenache it is a classic Central Coast recipe, but what makes it unique and utterly divine is a splash of Pinot Noir, all from the Estate Vineyards! Peake Ranch's wines are super hot-tickets, and the two Estate Vineyards in Sta. Rita Hills are highly prized by the region's top winemakers. The Peake Ranch Vineyard surrounds the winery in the far southeast of the AVA, counting Sine Qua Non's Eleven Confessions Vineyard as a neighbour. This historic site rises up from the valley floor into Santa Rosa Hills, a is home to some of the best Pinot Noir on the West Coast. John Sebastiano Vineyard has the perfect mix of cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean and Californian sunshine for producing amazing Syrah and Grenache. With the likes of Jim Binns (Andremily), Paul Lato (Paul Lato Wines), and Nik Krankl (Finger's Crossed) lining up for some fruit, it deserves it's 'Grand Cru' status. The mix of intense, aromatic Syrah with energetic, textured Grenache and Pinot may sound outrageous, but if the recipe works why deny it?!

JD99WI97
Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage production: 50 cases 2021 marks the inaugural release of the Signature Series Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, and what a vintage in which to debut! The Oakville... Station Vineyard is rich in Napa Valley history and has been proclaimed to be the most important vineyard anywhere in the world, as so many foundational experiments have been conducted on this property by viticulture students at UC Davis that have shaped the Napa Valley wine region. Sandwiched between Robert Mondavi’s Monastery Block, the Oakville Grade and Walnut Drive, it is at the heart of the original To Kalon Vineyard. For those Napa Valley history buffs, the original budwood for Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon came from the Oakville Station. Today, the modern Oakville Station comprises two vineyards of 8 hectares each: the Old Federal Vineyard, which was part of Hamilton Crabb’s Ranch (considered one of the pioneers who developed Napa Valley as a wine region) and the South Station, from Stelling’s McGill Ranch, all of which are farmed by the viticulture program at UC Davis. Fruit for the 2021 was harvested on 20th September, and the wine spent 23 months in new French oak (Darnajou and Taransuad) prior to bottling on 21st August, 2023.
