2021 Carter, Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon The O.G., Oakville 6x75cl

JD99
Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage production: n/a With low yields and intense concentration, 2021 turns out to be very good year for the ‘O.G.’ block of Beckstoffer To Kalon. This is a... dense and ethereal Napa Cabernet Sauvignon revealing gorgeous notes of black and blue berry, complex floral and earth undertones matched with an inky deep purple color. Sweet firm tannins integrate with a plush, persistent and prodigious palate that has both weight and richness. As with prior tannic vintages of this wine, the structure and power of the clone 337 from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard lends itself well to an extended decant or several years of bottle age to really spread its wings. This wine should hit its prime in 5 to 10 years and continue to age and become more complex for decades.

2019 Ad Vivum, Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Yountville 3x75cl

WI98
Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage production: 350 cases When a winemaker who played one of the most pivotal roles in raising Napa Valley to World Class status hand picks a single-vineyard for... his own project, you know it's going to be something truly special. As the Founding Winemaker at Dominus Estate (1984 to 1996), Chris Phelps is that person, and the wine in question is his Ad Vivum Cabernet Sauvignon. Chris completed his BS in Enology at the legendary U.C. David in 1981, and immediately headed west to study Viticulture at the University of Bordeaux. After graduating in 1982, he was singled-out by Christian Moueix and enologist Jean-Claude Berrouet, for extensive training at Château Pétrus in Pomerol. Such was his unbelievable talent, Moueix appointed him as Founding Winemaker for his new winery in Napa, Dominus Estate. Over 12 years, Chris produced some historic wines, including the revered Dominus 1990, 1991 (his personal favourite), and 1994 vintages. In 1996 he moved to Caymus Vineyard as winemaker before starting in own consulting business in 2003. June 2007 was the watershed moment when he started his own winery Ad Vivum. Having started working in 2005 with fruit from the cooler-climate Sleeping Lady Vineyard on an experimental basis, Chris was convinced this young site could produce world class wines, and knew this was the future site for Ad Vivum. Since the first vintage, all of Chris's fruit has come from two upper blocks that he feels are the best sites in the vineyard. The resulting Cabernet captures the classic richness and depth of Napa Cabernet while harnessing the cooling influence of the nearby San Pablo Bay to bring energy and refinement.

2019 FUTO, Oakville Estate Red Wine 1x75cl

JD98JS100VM98
Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage production: 485 cases The Oakville Estate Vineyard lies in western Oakville, overlooked on three sides by Harlan Estate, BOND Winery, and Promontory Winery.... The 2019 is unique as the first vintage to be 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and, in out opinion, would outperform its neighbours and peers to the east including Screaming Eagle. Pure Cabernet cannot be any better than this, reaffirmed by James Suckling who scored it 100pts. Four Corners Wine “The Oakville shows total purity from the get-go, with so much concentration and depth of fruit on the nose, framed with delicate floral notes, fresh rosemary, a touch of star anise, with a lifted graphite-minerality. This is amazingly complex and oh so delicious. The palate in phenomenal – simply stunning. It’s so complex and layered and an unmistakable expression of the Estate vineyard. The interplay of concentration and intensity with most incredible tannins and energy is mind-blowing. Everything about this wine is perfect. It’s incredible, and arguably the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon we’ve ever tasted.” (Dec. 2021)

2021 Unwritten, Signature Series Oakville Station Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville 1x75cl

JD99WI96-98
Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage production: 50 cases 2021 marks the inaugural release of the Signature Series Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, and what a vintage in which to debut! The Oakville... Station Vineyard is rich in Napa Valley history and has been proclaimed to be the most important vineyard anywhere in the world, as so many foundational experiments have been conducted on this property by viticulture students at UC Davis that have shaped the Napa Valley wine region. Sandwiched between Robert Mondavi’s Monastery Block, the Oakville Grade and Walnut Drive, it is at the heart of the original To Kalon Vineyard. For those Napa Valley history buffs, the original budwood for Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon came from the Oakville Station. Today, the modern Oakville Station comprises two vineyards of 8 hectares each: the Old Federal Vineyard, which was part of Hamilton Crabb’s Ranch (considered one of the pioneers who developed Napa Valley as a wine region) and the South Station, from Stelling’s McGill Ranch, all of which are farmed by the viticulture program at UC Davis. Fruit for the 2021 was harvested on 20th September, and the wine spent 23 months in new French oak (Darnajou and Taransuad) prior to bottling on 21st August, 2023.

2021 Fait Main, Cabernet Sauvignon Tierra Roja Vineyard, Oakville 1x75cl

JD98+
Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage production: 375 cases From the eastern hillside of Oakville, the Fait-Main Tierra Roja Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 represents the reawakening of a... legendary Napa site, with owner Linda Neal giving Benoit exclusive access to this epic terroir. Look above and you’ll see Dalla Valle Vineyards; look down and there’s BOND St. Eden; crane your neck tot eh south, and Screaming Eagle and Tench Vineyard sit side-by-side. It’s Napa’s very own ‘Route des Grands Crus’. This is a stonkingly good wine and we expect high scores when the critics get their hands on a bottle, you’ll be getting this before them! Four Corners Wine: “This is a classical Cabernet from the very first aromatics, dripping with regal stature and poise. The notes of warm red earth could come from no other piece of Napa land, framed with wet clay, a bright floral lift, and a core of charcoal and pencil shavings, all wrapped within a broad spread of delicious fruit. The depth is astounding on the nose, as it is on the palate. At this early stage there's an almost primal feel to the incredible 'volcanic' tannins, as it builds to a stacked mid-palate and fantastic finish. Layers of dark chocolate and preserved black fruit only hint at the complexity of the wine. Given a few years to settle down in the cellar, this is destined for greatness and explores the nuances of hillside and Valley floor in riveting fashion. What a debut for Fait-Main!” (Sep. 2023)
