*Unwritten is a true insider's secret, known only to those with an inside track.
The inaugural 2014 vintage was an instant sell-out,... taking pride of place on the lists of two Napa culinary institutions: The French Laundry, and Press. It has since become one of the hottest tickets in Napa. The fruit for this remarkable Cabernet comes from the historic Lewelling Vineyard in the western foothills of Napa's famed Saint Helena AVA, a stones throw from the Beckstoffer Dr Crane, Spottswoode and Abreu Madrona Ranch vineyards - the A-list neighbourhood.
This is a Cabernet that ticks all the boxes: perfect bottle age from an epic vintage, drinking beautifully now, rare as hen's teeth, poured at one of the greatest 3* restaurants in the world.
Four Corners Wine: "A model 2016 Cab with the elegance, purity and focus that shine through in the best wines of the vintage. Aromas of graphite, fresh cedar shavings and a light-roasted coffee note frame the delicious core of cassis and blackcurrant. The palate is so well balanced, showing the classic lift and energy of western St. Helena. The crisp, layered blackcurrant fruit is supported by crisp red berries, star anise and a ferrous note that wraps it all together beautifully, leading to a long finish. The Unwritten has a real touch of class and impresses through-and-through, and will deliver the goods for 15+ years."

DE99JD100
*Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
*Vintage production: 350 cases
*The Fait-Main Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is a modern-day icon, and for our tastes is one of the best... Cabernets to date from this remarkable site in western St. Helena.
Located at the foot of Spring Mountain in St. Helena, the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard marks the first site ever produced by Fait-Main. The foreign outcrop of stony, tough soil in the middle of a typically soft and rich valley floor, presents more like Bordeaux than St. Helena. For French-born winemaker Benoit Touquette, it was this connection to home that inspired him to create his own label. “I never felt compelled to make my own wine until I visited Las Piedras Vineyard. It felt like coming home.”
Tracing its roots back to the original Mexican land grants, Las Piedras vineyard is thought to be the first planted in what is now the St. Helena AVA. Farm workers aptly named the vineyard Las Piedras, which translates to the stones in Spanish. The richly layered palate that each vintage has expressed thus far, shows the site’s compelling interplay of fruit and structure, bound together with graceful minerality.
It boasts the same rocky terroir as its famous neighbour, Dr. Crane, but is emerging to produce even more concentrated and mineral-driven Cabs. There are a small handful of winemakers who are granted access to this hallowed terroir and Benoit is right at the forefront.
BENOIT ON THE NEW BOTTLES (from 2023):
“Every bottle tells a story. In 2010, my friend Mario Sculatti gifted me an antique bottle recovered from a shipwreck — a very old glass bottle, weathered and pitted with time and the sea, told a silent story of heritage and craftsmanship.
As soon as I picked it up, I realized this was a piece of history: an enduring memento from an ill-fated 19th century voyage, from Pauillac in Bordeaux. I was struck by its extraordinary elegance and charisma, and the artistry of its hand-blown mastery. I took the bottle home, and had it examined, using MRI technology, in a hospital, to map its graceful curves and contours, and discovering that it contained just 700mL, rather than our standard 750mL. In 2013, I decided to try to replicate its striking shape in a handblown bottle for Fait-Main, using the unique skills of a Bay Area glassblower—honoring the craftsmanship of the past with that of today—but I was unsuccessful due to variations in the bottle’s neck and body shape.
That single moment sparked an obsession. In early 2021, I set out to create a bottle that honored both tradition and innovation—a vessel as distinctive as the wine it would hold. The process was anything but simple. Perfecting the weight, proportions, and structure demanded precision, patience, and countless
revisions. But after years of refinement, I arrived at something truly extraordinary: a custom-molded bottle that embodies the essence of Fait-Main.
This is more than just a container; it’s a tribute to craftsmanship, legacy, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. A story etched in glass, carrying forward the spirit of tradition—just like that shipwrecked relic that first sparked my imagination.”
BENOIT ON THE NEW LABELS (from 2023):
"With this exceptional vintage, we are thrilled to unveil our latest collaboration with the renowned painter, Hunt Slonem. His extraordinary artistry has inspired a series of beautiful bespoke labels for our newest Fait-Main releases. These captivating, specially commissioned designs will grace our single-vineyard wines this year, reflecting our deep commitment to craftsmanship and authenticity. My vision for custom-crafted Fait-Main wine bottles wouldn’t be complete without them, and we can not wait for you to experience our interpretation of handmade excellence.
Slonem is an American artist renowned for his colorful depictions of butterflies, birds, and – most famously – bunnies. His work is featured in the permanent collections of museums around the world, from the Miró Museum in Barcelona to the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, to the Guggenheim, Whitney and Metropolitan Museums in New York.
Slonem’s bunny paintings have captured my imagination since the moment I first discovered them. With vibrant colors and endearing expressions, they radiate joy and playfulness in a way I find irresistible. The rabbit’s symbolism as an image of creativity, fertility and abundance seems to me to be a perfect match for wine, itself a symbol of celebrations, togetherness, and the delicious pleasure of good living. Slonem’s signature repetition of shapes also reminds me of the diligence and discipline required in winemaking, where we engage our skill and craftsmanship year after year to achieve a transcendent result.
I commissioned this bespoke Slonem label for Fait-Main’s new single-vineyard wines to reflect both the quality and craftsmanship of what’s in the bottle, and the sense of creative fun and festivity I want to share with my wines. I hope this special edition label brings you as much joy as it does to me."

The Estate Cabernet is a stunning combination of both block. It carries notes from each and shines with gorgeous density, structure and personality.

*Anyone who's drunk a Cabernet Sauvignon made by Benoit Touquette will know why he's regarded as... one of the greatest winemakers of his generation. With countless 100 point scores to his name, he's at the top of his game.
So when he releases a Cab under his own label, it's a complete no-brainer! That makes his Teeter-Totter Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 one of the shrewdest buys from Napa, especially with Jeb Dunnuck saying "It tastes as if it costs two to three times the price."
With Teeter-Totter, Benoit gets to cherry pick fruit from his favourite vineyards throughout Napa. The result is a red that's both serious and complex, as well as delicious and moreish from the word go.
Benoit described 2019 as a "100% drool-worthy vintage", and his final blend was 85% Cabernet Sauvignon from St Helena, Yountville and Rutherford; 5% each of Petite Sirah, Charbono and Zinfandel from Calistoga. It's in the classic Benoit-style with plenty of richness and opulence, with a great structure to carry it along.

*If there's one wine that sums up why California is such a hotbed of innovation and excitement, it's the Peake Ranch... Bellis Noir 2019. It's a blend like no-other: with a dominance of Syrah and addition of Grenache it is a classic Central Coast recipe, but what makes it unique and utterly divine is a splash of Pinot Noir, all from the Estate Vineyards!
Peake Ranch's wines are super hot-tickets, and the two Estate Vineyards in Sta. Rita Hills are highly prized by the region's top winemakers. The Peake Ranch Vineyard surrounds the winery in the far southeast of the AVA, counting Sine Qua Non's Eleven Confessions Vineyard as a neighbour. This historic site rises up from the valley floor into Santa Rosa Hills, a is home to some of the best Pinot Noir on the West Coast.
John Sebastiano Vineyard has the perfect mix of cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean and Californian sunshine for producing amazing Syrah and Grenache. With the likes of Jim Binns (Andremily), Paul Lato (Paul Lato Wines), and Nik Krankl (Finger's Crossed) lining up for some fruit, it deserves it's 'Grand Cru' status.
The mix of intense, aromatic Syrah with energetic, textured Grenache and Pinot may sound outrageous, but if the recipe works why deny it?!

*From the multi-awarding winning winemaker, to an iconic vineyard manager behind some of the most famous names in Napa, and a terroir... cherished for over 25 years by some of the Valley's legendary Estates, there is so much to get excited about in the Heimark 2019.
The team at Heimark is something of a dream line-up. Françoise Pechson was crowned Winemaker of The Year 2019 by The San Francisco Chronicle, and again as Antonio Galloni's Winemaker of The Year 2021. Her CV includes working with Jean Delmas at Château Haut Brion, and 20 years as winemaker for the legendary Araujo Estate. In addition to her primary position at Heimark, Françoise is also the winemaker for Vine Hill Ranch (VHR) and Accendo Cellars. It's little wonder Galloni called her "One of the most influential and highly respected winemakers in Napa Valley."
Then there's the vineyard itself, described by legendary winemaker Phlippe Melka as "The Pauillac of Napa Valley." It was planted in 1997 by Harlan Estate's own Mary Hall Mayer, and is managed by Michael Wolf - the man behind Scarecrow, To Kalon, and VHR. It has been a prized source of fruit for some of Napa's most iconic wines since 1997, leading up to the Heimark Family releasing their own label in 2016.
Many of the great Araujo Estate Cabs were composed primarily of Heimark fruit, as has the multiple 100-point Lail Vineyards' J.Daniel Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon (made by Melka) since 2008. Arkenstone Estate also produce a remarkable single-vineyard Cabernet from this awesome site.
A critically acclaimed winemaker; the dream vineyard team; a site revered by Napa's top Estates; critical acclaim... This Cabernet Sauvignon commands a place in every cellar and collection.

The wines are elegant, pure, remarkably balanced wines loaded with tension and energy, that have knocked us off our seats every time we've tasted them. They're as close in class to the Grand Crus of Burgundy we've ever experienced in California, while maintaining their unmistakable Sonoma DNA.
2021 is MAXEM's first ever vintage from the legendary U.V. Lucky Well Vineyard . This site sits atop a knoll on the western edge of the Sebastopol hills outside of the towns of Graton and Sebastopol. The area is home to some of the most highly acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards in the Russian River Valley due in large part to the perfect confluence of soil, climate, and elevation.
The vineyard is in an area often referred to as the “banana belt” of the Russian River Valley because, though on the very coolest, foggiest, and western edge of the appellation, it sits on a knoll that rises above the fog line. This feature exposes the fruit to more gentle sunlight, which allows very slow and even ripening across the entire growing season.

A site generous in sun exposure, grapes grown here reach their full physiological ripeness. The high iron content and well drained rock soil and slope attitude aspect of the vines combine to result in stunning fruit ripeness coupled with amazing acid retention.
The resulting wine is a deeply concentrated, elegantly textured Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that sits among the region's greatest cuvées.
